Well Stability

In the drilling of wells, losses occur due to the instability of wells and tunnels, for this, for the last 3 decades, various studies have been incorporated that seek to improve drilling activities. The main topics to be studied are:

Through the analysis of cores which are subjected to triaxial compression tests, the degree of fracture of the rock is inferred, in the same way the analysis of the channel samples obtained by direct drilling as well as the granulometry and some porosity factors that will give lead to the measurement of permeability. Operationally, the weight of the mud is intended to control the water activity of the drilling fluid, the angle of the well and the azimuth or direction of the well, are parameters that can be controlled in the field, with reasonable limitations. With this method, it is possible to analyze the stresses in the vicinity of the well, and to know the behavior of the stability of the walls, by reducing or increasing the operational parameters, to improve the stability conditions.

Use of registration tools such as Natural Remnant Magnetism (MRN), Viscous Remnant Magnetization (VRM), Computerized Axial Tomography.

Objective: to determine zones of sands and clays as well as the orientation of the bedding planes, to identify areas of interest and so that the plane of the face of the section is normal to the bedding plane.

Analysis of the main stresses such as Deviation Tensor Stress, Osmotic and Crystalline Pressure, including the main chemical parameters of the control fluid and the integration of them with the drilling parameters in Real time including the operating window and the viscoelasticity modules will be interrelated through Geological criteria with the help of software such as P-bore.
