Petrophysics

The parametric analysis of the data offered by the Geophysical Well Log, aided by the core data, allows characterizing the intrinsic lithostratigraphic properties that allow properly obtaining the permeability in conventional and unconventional reservoirs, applying the corresponding logarithmic in each particular case through specialized software and the integration of criteria derived from petrographic analysis and seismic data.

Well Log Interpretation: Gamma Ray (GR), Spontaneous Potential (SP), Caliper (Cal), Neutron Porosity (ØN), Density (ρ), Transit time (Δt) and Resistivity (R); it is carried out by petrophysical models corresponding to each physical property. The quantitative interpretation must be complemented with information from core data, geology of the area, analogous production wells, and all available information that is available.

Petrophysical parameters derived from well logs will help us interpret the main features of our geological formations and reservoirs. In practice, geoscientists must integrate all available geological information (stratigraphy, structural geology, flow patterns, etc.), to propose the best geological evaluation of the study intervals.

The interpretation of parameters depends on the expertise of the engineer in charge, because the integration and interpretation of well logs and the petrography in the corresponding cores, will generate the interpretation of accurate and reliable data. For this, the adequate selection of the petrophysical model that adequately characterize the possible producing intervals, it will determine the exploitation measures that must be taken into account.
